Where the licence money goes
A different price for every job title in your field team
Salesforce prices Consumer Goods Cloud by role, per user, paid a year in advance. Under every role sit the same records: stores, products, visits, orders and promotions.
A$140 a month for each merchandiser
Retail Execution Merchandiser covers visit planning, inventory tracking and maps. A team of ten merchandisers is ten annual licences at A$1,680 each.
A$385 a month for each sales or service seat
Key account managers sit on Consumer Goods Cloud for Sales, telesales and customer service on the Service plan. Each is A$4,620 a user a year.
Trade promotions priced in a sales meeting
Trade Promotion Management and Customer Planning and Forecasting carry no public price. Salesforce asks you to contact sales.
Support as a share of the licence
The Premier Success Plan, with 24/7 help for business-stopping issues, is 30% of net licence fees. It grows every time a seat is added.
Integration licensed separately
Salesforce points to MuleSoft licences for connecting other systems, with no price on the page.
Billed annually, not monthly
Every listed price is billed annually.
What you get instead
Store visits, shelf checks and orders in records you can question
Visits
Every store on a cycle your managers can see
Each store has its own visit frequency and an assigned rep. Ask who is overdue and the answer comes with what each late store has bought lately.
- check Stores past their visit date, sorted by how late they are and what they are worth
- check Coverage across the whole estate as one percentage you can track week to week
- check Strike rate, average order and time in store per rep, against the target you set
- check Try moving stores between two reps and see both workloads before anyone is told
The shelf
Facings, prices and promotions checked store by store
What a merchandiser records in store becomes something you can ask about, not a form nobody reads again.
- check Facings, shelf price, gaps and off-plan lines, per store and per product
- check Promotion checks: display in place, ticket up, price correct, and the stores nobody has checked
- check Shelf prices for each line compared across every store you supply
- check Which promotions sold more only where the store ran them properly
Orders and credits
Orders at the right price, credits with a sign-off
Orders take the store's own price list and any live promotion. A credit cannot be issued without authorisation, and tracked lines need their batch code.
- check Orders in cases at each store's price list, with the promotion applied on the line
- check Orders written out for your ERP in one step and marked as sent
- check Credits held until someone authorises them, with the reason recorded
- check Every credited batch with stores and dates, ready the day a recall lands
Ownership
One set of records, no role-based licences
Merchandisers, key account managers and the office all work from the same records. Adding a person costs nothing.
- check Pricing law, the Grocery Supply Code and batch traceability checked against your records, each rule with its source
- check Visit summaries, weekly rep reports and order confirmations under your own name and logo
- check New fields, rules and reports added by describing them in plain English
- check Open source under the MIT licence, with no renewal date

Switching
How to switch from Salesforce Consumer Goods Cloud
The move is less about moving software and more about mapping your own fields, your own rules and the history you want to keep, since Salesforce's export uses its own field names rather than the free version's import format.
- 1
Export your records from Salesforce
In Setup, run Salesforce's Data Export and export what your account allows, usually your outlets or customers, contacts and order history as CSV files. Salesforce deletes these files 48 hours after the export email arrives, so save the zip somewhere safe straight away rather than leaving it in your inbox.
- 2
Run a test import first
Before anything is saved, run the import in test mode. It reads your exported files and shows how many records it would create, without changing anything yet. This is where Salesforce's own field names get matched to the new system's records, so you can see the result before committing to it.
- 3
Check what the import flags
The test run will flag records it could not match cleanly. Go through these before running the real import. Some will need a small fix in the source file, others are a judgment call about how much history to bring across and how much to leave behind.
- 4
Run both systems side by side
Keep Salesforce running for a short period while the new system takes live data too. Ask the same questions of both, which stores missed a visit, which orders went through, which credits are outstanding, and confirm the answers match before your team stops checking Salesforce day to day.
- 5
Turn off Salesforce Consumer Goods Cloud
Once the side by side period has run clean and your team is comfortable working from the new system, cancel the Salesforce Consumer Goods Cloud seats. Keep a copy of the original export files in case you need to check something against the old records later.
Where the real effort goes
Most of the real work is not moving records, it is deciding how your outlets, promotions, price lists and compliance rules should actually be set up in the new system, and how much of your Salesforce history is worth bringing across. The export itself is a few clicks. Enterprise DNA does the mapping, the test run and the field by field decisions for you when they install and run it.

Questions
Instead of Salesforce Consumer Goods Cloud, answered
Our merchandisers use the Salesforce mobile app in store. What do they use instead? expand_more
The free version has no phone app of its own. People using it today enter visits from a laptop between stores. If your merchandisers need to record shelf checks on a phone with no signal, Enterprise DNA builds that into your version. You can also keep a few Salesforce seats for the field while reporting, promotions and account management move across first, which already cuts the sales and service licences.
How do we get our data out of Salesforce? expand_more
An administrator runs Salesforce's data export from Setup and receives a zip of spreadsheet files, one per kind of record. Save it straight away, because Salesforce deletes the files 48 hours after the email arrives. The columns follow Salesforce's own field names, so they are mapped on the way in. Enterprise DNA does that mapping, and a test run shows what would be created before anything is saved.
We use Salesforce for trade promotion planning and claims. Is that covered? expand_more
Partly. The free version records each promotion, its price and dates, checks it in store and shows which stores ran it properly. It does not manage funds, accruals or retailer claims. If that is how you run promotions, it is scoped into your version on the call.
Our key account managers live in Salesforce all day. Will they cope? expand_more
They ask questions instead of clicking through screens: which accounts slipped this month, what a banner bought last quarter, which promotions missed. Enterprise DNA can also build a simple web screen for the views they use most, reading the same records.
What does the Enterprise DNA version include? expand_more
The move off Salesforce, your ERP link, commands for your categories and trading terms, compliance rules checked against your own retailer agreements, and a person to call. It runs alongside everything else Enterprise DNA runs for your business.
