What the subscription buys
Vehicle records, collection tools and the screens around them
Whip Around packages inspection and maintenance work into subscriptions. Its plan guide describes Standard for inspections and defects, Pro for maintenance, and paid feature additions. The free version starts with the fleet office records; we scope driver capture and connections into your version.
A bill tied to your assets
The plan guide describes billing by asset count, with special arrangements for trailers and equipment. The tailored unlimited offer uses a quoted fixed rate.
The daily inspection round
Standard includes inspection forms, defect management and driver and manager apps. Your version can follow your own checklist and escalation rules.
The workshop plan
Pro adds preventive maintenance, work orders, parts and service history. The free version holds service thresholds and defect repair evidence; broader workshop functions are scoped with you.
Reminders and follow-up
Inspection plans include reminders and notifications. The free version lists missing checks and overdue work for review; delivery to your team is part of a connected version.
History and documents
Whip Around stores inspection history and documents. Moving means preserving original evidence as well as mapping the records you use every day.
Reports across the fleet
Whip Around offers dashboards and reporting. Your own database lets us combine depot priorities, recurring faults and the evidence your workshop needs in reports you define.
The fleet office you own
Find the missed check, the repeat fault and the next repair
Daily checks
See which vehicles still need evidence
The fleet review separates complete checks from imported summaries, and keeps held vehicles visible.
- check Daily checks use each vehicle’s local date
- check Every recorded check retains its item answers and signer
- check Failed checklist items become defects
- check Critical failures place the vehicle on hold
Workshop
Put the oldest unresolved faults in front of the team
Review fault age, ownership and repeated component problems with the vehicle history beside them.
- check Overdue defects and missing owners
- check Repeated component faults within ninety days
- check Service work due by date or distance
- check Repair evidence with technician and recorded cost
Evidence
Keep the record behind the decision
A repair entry and a vehicle release are separate actions, each with evidence to review.
- check Repairing a fault does not release a held vehicle
- check Open critical faults block an administrative release
- check A reviewer’s name and evidence are retained
- check Certificate and driver expiry records remain visible
Your reports
Ask for the handover your depot actually uses
The database supports reports across inspections, faults and repairs. The free version already answers the questions below.
- check Depot totals for holds and critical defects
- check Recorded repair costs kept separate by currency
- check Printable vehicle, inspection and repair records
- check Business name, colours and logo set once

Questions your fleet records can answer
These ten questions work against the free version today. Whip Around also offers reports; your own version lets you define the reports around your fleet.
Switching
How to switch from Whip Around
This move centers on mapping your Whip Around export headings once, previewing the import before it counts, and running the two systems side by side until you trust the numbers match.
- 1
Export your records from Whip Around
Whip Around documents CSV exports for assets, inspection history and defects. Pull all three. If your account offers a different export format, use whatever it allows and check with Whip Around support first. Keep the raw files, since you will map their exact column headings in the next step rather than guessing at them.
- 2
Map your columns to the new system
Whip Around's export headings vary by account, so match each column to the matching field in the new system before loading anything. This is a one-time job done properly rather than repeated. Enterprise DNA does this mapping for you when they install and run the system, so you hand over the export files and they handle the rest.
- 3
Load with a preview run first
Once your columns are mapped, run the import as a preview before committing it for real. The preview lets you see what will load and catch mistakes early. Exact repeats are skipped automatically, and rows that do not match are set aside rather than loaded incorrectly. If anything fails partway through, the whole batch rolls back, so you never end up with half your records loaded.
- 4
Review what the import flags
Check every row the preview sets aside for review before you load it for real. Open defects move straight into your working queue. Closed defects, photos, signatures and historic repair sign-offs need a separate check against the original Whip Around files, since these need their own evidence review rather than a simple field match.
- 5
Run in parallel, then switch off
Keep entering checks in Whip Around while you also enter them in the new system for a short stretch, so drivers and the office stay on familiar footing and you can compare results directly. Once you trust the new records match, stop using Whip Around and cancel the subscription.
Where the real effort goes
The real work is in mapping your own column headings and checklist rules to match the new system, and deciding how far back your history needs to go. Open defects load in cleanly, but closed defects, photos, signatures and repair sign-offs need a separate check against the originals. If Enterprise DNA runs it for you, they handle this mapping and review as part of the setup.

Questions
Instead of Whip Around, answered
Can our drivers still use a phone? expand_more
We can build a phone inspection flow, photo capture and the connections your drivers need into your custom version. The free version serves the fleet office with entered check answers, imported history and printable reports. Keep your current collection process until the driver workflow has been tested.
Can you bring our Whip Around history across? expand_more
Whip Around documents exports for assets, inspection history and defects. We map the actual headings, run a preview and reconcile the records. The free version accepts mapped inspection summaries and open defects. Photos, signatures and historic repair sign-offs need their original files and a separate evidence review.
Does a clear report mean a vehicle is safe to drive? expand_more
No. The report checks recorded dates, completed check evidence, service thresholds and open defects. A competent person still assesses the vehicle and applicable requirements. Closing a repair does not release a hold; a named reviewer must record a separate release.
How does the cost compare with our Whip Around plan? expand_more
Compare your current asset count, plan, additions and contract with the scope you need us to build. Whip Around’s published plan guide describes asset-based billing and it also offers tailored unlimited pricing. Its pricing link redirected during this check, so we do not quote an unverified current rate. Our work has one setup fee, then a retainer.
Do we have to manage the system ourselves? expand_more
No. Choose the managed option and Enterprise DNA installs, connects and operates your agreed version through Omni. Choose the free version if your team wants to maintain it. In both cases your records stay in a database you control.
